The Spring Festival

The Spring Festival is the biggest festival in China and celebrated for the longest period, especially in the Northern farm villages.
For the past few thousand years, people who have work hard for the past 1 year will pray and pay homage to their gods and ancestors during the end and beginning of the Lunar New Year, to celebrate the blessing of a good harvest in the passing year and pray for good weather and good fortune for both people and farm animals in the comming year.
The Spring Festival lasts for almost a month and a half, where people begin to get busy in the last month of the lunar calander to celebrate the few festivals which forms the Spring Festival.
The 23rd day of the last month of the lunar calander is the "stove festival," one of the five important festivals of ancient China. The Stove God is beleived to have great power, not only overseeing the household chors of every family, is it said that what the Stove God reports in the heavens will affect the blessings and well being of the family.
