请大侠们帮忙翻译以下长长一段话,没分了,不能给分了,抱歉啦~谢谢谢谢:)
It has been a turbulent week: We have lost one of our MD-11 freighters in a dramatic accident in Riyadh - fortunately, the cockpit crew managed to escape from the wreckage. We are now working intensively to ensure that we're able to offer you the customary network and quality in the coming peak season. Only two days after the accident, we presented our results for the first half 2010: They are gratifying and many of the indicators signal an end to the economic downswing.
The financial and ensuing economic crisis dealt the international aviation and airfreight industry an unprecedented blow - hopefully, never to be repeated. The cargo carriers alone sustained losses running into the billions: In 2009, Lufthansa Cargo turned in a loss of 171 million euros as well as a decline of more than a billion euros in revenues.
The dramatic impact of the downturn was not confined to a slump in profits and revenues. An unprecedented decline in rates led to yields falling by up to 40 per cent. On many of our routes, we are still confronted by rates at a level significantly below that of previous years.
Owing not least to their highly capital-intensive and necessary investment in aircraft, logistics infrastructure and technological innovation, airlines need a sustainable, healthy financial structure and commensurate profitability. Not all cargo carriers are in a position to operate their fleet economically in the long term. Some drew the consequences in last year's crisis and have withdrawn completely from the market. Others have significantly reduced or cancelled their aircraft orders.
We have survived but over the past four years, Lufthansa Cargo has had to contend with an average operating margin of not even two per cent - a figure well below the average of international companies in the logistics industry.
Against that background, it is imperative that we raise airfreight rates, worldwide, by an average of 20 per cent on 1 October 2010 - varying according to individual traffic regions and products. Your local Lufthansa Cargo team will inform you in more detail about the pricing measures shortly. The team will as usual be readily available for any queries you may have about the changes. Or, you can gladly write to me personally: andreas.otto@dlh.de
Simultaneously, on 1 October 2010, the Security Surcharge will be raised by 0.03 euros to 0.20 euros (or comparably in local currency). The usual calculation method based on actual weight remains the same. The reason for increasing the surcharge is to be sought in the steadily mounting international security regulations, massive investment in security technology, recruitment of additional personnel and related training measures. Lufthansa Cargo's security costs have risen tenfold since 2000.
