关于英语的一个语法小问题。

我20多天后就要进行初中分班考试了。在家里做试卷的时候发现了一个语法问题：试卷要求翻译“他哥哥想要一个滑板作为生日礼物。”上面的答案是“His brother would like a skateboard as his birthday gift。”
我记得我们的老师说as是像，自己从字典中也发现还有一个因为的意思请问在这里面，as是什么意思？还有would like的用法，请各位帮我解惑！

1、像；如同

2、 作为；当作
例句：She works as a courier. 她的职业是导游。

二、作为副词（adverb ）
1、 像…一样，如同 as… as…
例句：You're as tall as your father. 你和你父亲一样高。
She doesn't play as well as her sister. 她演奏得不如她姐姐。
I haven't known him as long as you (= as you have known him). 我认识他的时间没有你长。
He doesn't earn as much as me. 他挣的钱比我少。
He doesn't earn as much as I do. 他挣的钱不如我多。
It's not as hard as I thought. 这没有我想像的那么困难。

would like 愿意 想要
