Ms. smith got an 8% cost-of-living raise of $20 per week.
What is Ms. Smith's new weekly salary?

if 8% of Smith's previous weekly salary is $20 then,
Smith's previous weekly salary is $20/0.08=$250

so his new weekly salary would be $250+$20=$270

this is what i guess...not sure sorry...
