1.这是一个使用should表达的虚拟语气,即if the police should order them.....should在这里表示万一的意思.高二一篇课文中有一句:Should you have energy left ,you can work out in the gyms.万一人你还有力气的话,你可以去健身房锻炼一下.

2.这里只是表示一件事,因...而感激,不必要表示两个动作之间的先后关系,如果用A,那就表示动作之前的先后关系,这里显然不是这样.

3.at one’s expense是习语，意为“嘲弄某人”，“使某人受精神损失”。 当然,这个短语还可以指"由....付费"
