强调句型的结构为It is/was+被强调部分+that+句子剩余部分。强调句型可以强调一个句子中除了谓语动词的任何成分。
如，I met Tom in the street yesterday。
肯定：It was in the street that I met tom yesterday。强调地点
否定：It was not in the street that I met Tom yesterday。否定句在was后直接加not。
一般疑问句，Was it in the street that I met Tom yesterday？直接把was提前。
特殊问句，Where was it that I met Tom yesterday？强调句型的特殊问句是向被强调部分提问。
Tom did not go to bed until his father came back。
上面含有not…until的句子和强调句型连用成为：It was not until his father came back that Tom went to bed。注意是强调了not和until引导的时间状语从句。
