请英语专业人士进，关于too to结构的问题，

我们可以说the coffee is too hot to drink,为什么不能说the apricot is too sour to eat. 语言学定义为cross-association不太理解，何人觉得这个too to结构似乎说得通，请高手答疑

Senses of ability include to feel, to taste, to sound, to look, to smell. They are all link verbs, intransitive.
"too...to..." structure means sth. is so ... that people cannot accept it or accepted by the commons. Maybe the hot coffee is just like the sour apricot unfit for anyone in a summer lunch. So far as I know some pregannent women in China enjoy such sour plums very much but they do not how to release themselves very often.
Language is a practical tool but food can be poisonous sometimes. A necessary greeting is sometimes more important than a piece of cake.
