The Western Way of thinking is individual opinion is more important than the majority.
example - The Auckland City Council is proposing plans for a new,updated, more convenient roadwork in Mission Bay. However, there is a house in the way. So the Council asks(nicely) the owner of the house if he will accept their plan and have their house demolished. The owner decline. So the road upgrade does not commence because the owner of the house decided not to give up his own property for the good of countless others(potential users of the upgraded road).

The Chinese Way of thinking is majorities' convenience is more important than the individual.
example - The Beijing County Government wrote out a plan for the construction of the National Stadium. Unfortuately, the planned location of the stadium is currently occupied by a few houses. So Government officials give the residents a notice telling them to move out of their houses within 3 days. The residents have no choice but move. Three days later, the construction cranes arrive and pull down the houses and a few months later, the Stadium was completed. The government chose to take away the houses of a few people and give a brand new stadium to all.
