My Mother
My mother is just over fifty, a little bit older than our republic nation, so she has experienced two periods just like our country, showing both the traditional goodness and modern ideas.
Like all mothers, she is responsible and devotes most of her efforts to our family. So sometimes I feel regretful for her to give up her work, but she thinks it is the proper social role for a woman to be a housewife. She is satisfied with the family members' achievements. She insists on keeping her children under her wings. You see how traditional she is.
However, since she is intelligen and has received the high education, it is easy for her to accept something new. In recent years, she is interested in the stoc. Therefore, she cares about the political and economic situation of the country and the world, and actively collects information of the companies whose stocks she bought. What is more, she is a fan of the Argentine football team. So she was very sad after the defeat of this team in the 14th World Cup Tournament.
I love my mother, just because she loves me. Since we share some interests such as playing chess, we get chances to communicate with each other, which makes us close friends.

My Amazing Mother

The story of my mother, Mei, is a story full of struggles and hard work. Born in 1967 on May 4th, in a little town next to Kunming city, my mother Mei was the eldest daughter of her family. It was not easy back then. Both resources and education were limited. My mother had to fight against many huddles and obstacles in her way, but in the end, she was able to achieve great educational heights and change her own life.
Being a village girl meant that my mother had a lot of household chores that she must fulfill since she was a young child. Education was not a priority for the girl in the family. But despite that, she focused on school more than anything else. As a young child, my mother would bring books to read with her while feeding the pigs and do her homework while other kids are playing. As a result of her hard work she was able to become one of the top students in her school. Even with the lack of support from her family and pupils, she was determined to change her life through education.
In order to achieve higher education in her life, my mother needed to get into a high school that was in the Kunming district. With the inadequate village education and lack of support from her family, this was a tough feat to achieve. In the months approaching the high school entrance exams, my mother studied day and night to prepare for it. But several days before the exams, she got sick. But the exams couldn’t wait for her. While she was having a fever, she went into the exams. Expecting herself to do poorly and have her dreams shattered, she was depressed for several days. But when the results came, it turns out she was admitted to a second-class city high school. A very formidable achievement, since only one out of a few hundred is given admission.
While in high school, my mother was the only village student in her class. But my mother was determined to break that barrier between her classmates and her. She became the captain of the girls’ basketball team and the class representative. She was able to break the prejudice beliefs that others held and became friends with her fellow classmates. Being in high school was one of the happiest times in my mother’s life, and it concluded with the national university entrance exam, the most important exam in her life. She was able to gain admittance to an out-of-the-province University. Being accepted in to a university was a history-making moment for my mother. She was the first women in her village to enter a university.
Life in university was good compared to what she experienced in high school. She was happily away from her family and had no more pressure to be the best student in the class. She had a lot of time to explore things that may interest her. During her summer breaks she went traveling with her friends. Four years of university life passed by like a blink of an eye for my mother. Graduating with a bachelors degree in Chemistry, and was assigned a job in a perfume factory. My mother’s life was set.
My mother is a truly amazing woman, who strived against all odds and was able to transform her own life without the support of others. She tried her best and worked her best in school, earning her rewards that would lead her out of her village. The moment my mother received admittance into university, her life was forever changed and set. My mother deserved all that she has achieved.
