2.1 Synthesis of [Ni(oba)(2,2′-bipy)]n A mixture of H2oba (0.129g, 0.5mmol), NiCl2•6 H2O (0.119g, 0.5 mmol ), NaOH (1mmol, 0.04g) and distillated water(18 mL) was heated in a 25 mL stainless- steel reactor with a Teflon liner 160℃ for 120h, followed by slow cooling to room temperature. Green block crystals were obtained in 85% yield (based on Ni).
2.2 X-crystallography
Suitable single crystals were selected under a polarizing microscope and fixed with epoxy cement on fine glass fibers which were mounted on a Bruker Smart 1000 CCD diffractometer with a MoKα radiation (λ = 0.71073 Å) at 293(2) K. The hydrogen atoms bound to carbon were located by geometrically calculations. All non-hydrogen atoms were refined by full-matrix least-squares techniques. All calculations were performed by the SHELXTL 97 program [8]. Crystal data, intensity collection and structure refinement details are summarized in table 1.
