hear of/about是听说的意思能不能在加从句呢?不能。只能说hear of / about sth/sb.
2.I rang the door bell for a minute but no one replied.
这句句子为什么reply之后不加to?因为reply后没有宾语。
3.I have two letters to write ,but I haven`t got a pen to write with.
为什么前一个write后不加介词,后一个write之后要加介词?前一个：write two letters 后一个 write with a pen
4.be known for = be famous for 以……而闻名
be known as 被认为是……，被称为……
be known to 为……所熟知
be famous as 作为……而出名（与be known as相当）
e.g. Yao Ming is known/famous as a great basketball player.
China is known/famous for the Great Wall.
It's known to all that Edison was an inventor.

但是这个从句是对sb.的补充或者是解释（宾语从句和定语从句较多见）
2.你也可以加to，但是加了之后，to后面就要加宾语了。

这样就清楚了吧

但是侧重于：被认为是; 称为 。这两种翻译~
They are known as the House of Representatives and the Senate.
它们被称为众议院和参议院。

be known for 因...而著名
This new theatre is becoming known for its good productions.
这家新剧院因上演节目的质量好而渐渐出名。

be known to 为...所知
He is known to be good at trouble-shooting.
他以善于排忧解难而著称。

be famous as 当...有名
Brighton is famous as a bathing place.
布来顿以海水浴场驰名。

其实be known as和be famous as，是可以通用的（我是这样认为的阿~）
而且这些看起来差不多的词，我觉得你最好自己看字典，这样映像深一些
而且最好一次性就记好，不然的话，以后再记容易记混，而且也浪费时间
