网上别的论坛也有人问这个问题.我觉得这个句子有语法问题. 至少是不符合现代英语使用习惯.what在宾语从句中本身就是充当连接代词的作用,后面能马上又跟一个代词做从句的主语.
你在google里面搜索一下,会得到两个版本.一个就是你写的 what it is right...
还有一个是下面这个版本:

由于没有见过原书,我也无法确信原书上到底有没有it在里面.不过即使作者这样使用了,那也是不符合现代语法习惯的.正如狄更斯的作品里面也有很多句子不符合现代英语语法, 我也不能说狄更斯错了.
