Whether a high school student can use mobile phone at school?
There are two opposite opinions in my class. The proponents believe that mobile phones are a useful tool for communications. We can talk to our parents or friends using mobile phones, especially when something urgent happens. In addition, we are now in the 21st century, an age of information. With a smart cellphone, we can read news and look up new English words, understand what is going on in the world and enjoy the latest movies and music.
However, the opponents argue that although mobile phones provide us with a lot of conveniences, they are a terrible distraction, or a time waster. For some students, they use the device too much, to play games and to get entertainment. The time should be spent on their study. So playing with mobile phones can lead to bad performance at school. Besides, a smart phone is expensive and it easily gets stolen or lost.
As far as I’m concerned, mobile phones provide us with a lot of useful functions. They do us good if you use it properly. But to avoid the bad sides of it, we can turn it off when we enter the school campus and turn it on only when needed. In one word, we can't stop eating because of choking. Use the phone wisely and everyone will be happy.
