We are now learning English from primary school. Why do we have to learn it, instead of other languages such as Germany, French or Spanish. Here are 3 reasons.
First of all, English is now the most wdely used language around the world, and it is a second or foreign language of many countries. Learning English can help us communicate with people from other places out of China.
Second, the technology of China is not as developed as that of America and many other countries. If we want to learn others' high technology, we have to read their relevant materials which are probably written in English.
Third, English is not easy to acquire. So we have to learn it, then we can use it.

We need to learn English because as our country's economy's developes, there are more and more oppotunities for us to visit other countries. If we want to communicate with foreigners who don't know how to speak Chinese, we need to speak English. It's important for us to learn English because we want to learn other people's technologies and cultures, therefore we can improve our knowledge.
