One summer weekend, mywife, son and I entered a running race on mountain trails(小径). When the racestarted, our son took off immediately , but my wife and I stayedback and ran together.
After some time, whilerunning down a small trail, I walked on a big stone and had a fall , and I moved my toe pretty hard. I realized I’d got my toe injured , but I didn’t take off my shoe and sock to check my toe .Instead, my wife and I kept running.
Unluckily ,bad things happened to me again. After going about half the course, I realizedmy watch on my wrist(手腕) was gone . Discouraged, I told my wife to go on ahead, and I wouldreturn to see if I could find it. After running back for sometime, I found my broken watch off the trail. I picked it up, andquickly put it into my pocket. Once I was near the end, I saw my son had runback up the trail to meet me. He ran with me to the end.
As it turnedout, both my wife and son had won first place in their age groups. As Isat down to rest after the race, I took off my shoe. I checked my toe and I found that my sock was in blood. I failed to receiveany award in my age group. But the race organizers had a specialaward which was given for the most injured runner in the race.
So, how does this story relate to you and me in everyday life? Everyone wants tolive a comfortable life and enjoy a happy life. The truth is that we often face pain and trouble. However, the key to realhappiness is turning pain into something positive. In otherwords, difficulties can make usstronger if we let them.
