Throughout history, many people have asked the same question over and over again, “What is happiness?”. Is it fulfilment of desires? Or is it the chemical effects of serotonin? Well, no. The most fundamental basis of happiness comes from contentment and gratification. It is wrong to measure happiness through the amount of desires satisfied. This is because humans are greedy; there is no limit to our desires. The satisfaction of one would just lead to a deeper hunger for another. Thus you would enter this cycle of fulfilment and wants, never to be satisfied, never to be happy. The key to happiness is not to seek more, but be grateful for what you already own. A lot of the times, things already in you grasp are the most precious; but most people ignore them and believe that better treasure lie still on the road ahead, until they have reached the end of the road and realised that they have wasted all that time on a hurrying journey while they could have been doing something fun. A person who is content with their lives is a happy person, because they have learnt what is truly precious, and
