The age-grading made no difference in the children's behaviors, but the adult-child ratio did have some effects. In the schoon with the higher adult-child ratio, the children interacted more with adults and less with the other children. The ratio of adults to children did not seem to affect the children's degree of independence. However, chidren who did show dependency behaviors were more likely to go to adults rather then to other children when they were in a classroom that had more adults per child.
