定语从句which和where的区别

定语从句中，which是关系代词，在从句中既可以作主语，也可以作宾语，还可以作定语或表语。一般皆指物。where是关系副词，在从句中只作状语。
一、用which的例句。
Soldiers opened fire on a car which failed to stop at an army checkpoint.
士兵向那辆拒绝在军事检查站停车检查的汽车开了火。
He's based in Banja Luka, which is the largest city in northern Bosnia.
他驻扎在波斯尼亚北部的最大城市巴尼亚卢卡。
Since we started in September we have raised fifty thousand pounds, which is pretty good going.
我们自从9月份开始以来，已经募集到5万英镑，进展相当顺利。
二、用where的例句。
This is the house where the great man was born.
这所房子便是那位伟人出生的地方。
She was shown into a small room, where there was a dying man.
她被领进了一间小屋子, 那里有一个垂死的人。

关键是看从句中的动词。如果是及物动词，则表明从句缺宾语，修饰人用who/whom/that。修饰物用that/which.
如动词是不及物，则说明从句不缺宾语，可能是状语(或介宾）。表地点用where.时间用when.
