When you ask someone the reason why he or she smokes, you will have varied answers, some of which i am going to discuss in this essay.
to begin with, smoking may provide people with a sense of satisfaction. As for many smokers, they usually choose to smoke when they are under pressure. When they have difficuty in doing things that they cannot escape, they will turn to ciggarretes for help. Therefore, smoking is a kind of release.
In addition, although some people are unwilling to continue smoking, the unfortunate truth is they cannot give up easily. That is to say, they have long been addicted to smoking, but they have no choice. How pathetic they are, and everytime i hear about this sort of story, i feel sorrow!
The last cause which can by no means be ignored is that many people especially young people believe smoking is cool. This reason can further divided into two parts. First, they themselves are influenced by people around them such as friends, relatives and parents, and they think this is a fashinable thing and no big deal. Second, some media or advertisements intentionally propagandize the popularity of smoking, making cigarretes become something you cannot lose, and if you do not smoke, you will be out of fashion and look humble.
All in all, everything happens for a reason. However, for smoking, although people have numerous reasons to smoke, it is by all means detrimental to people's health, so if possible, stop it.
