What are you waiting for? Just go and tell her you want to date her.
Who are you waiting for? I saw you keep looking at your watch.
I will be waiting for you.
I have been waiting for a whole year. 如果说have waited for a whole year就是有“等了一年终于等到”的含义。)

wait on n.
如果表示“等某人(物)进行某动作”,wait后不能接宾语从句,而应用wait for sb.(sth.)to do结构。例如:
Are you waiting for me to give back the book?
She is waiting for her mother.
They are waiting for the train.
