History

As of August 2008, she is ranked #1 in the ITTF rankings, in both women's singles and women's doubles.She has held the ITTF #1 ranking continuously since January 2003 and remains a dominant figure in women's table tennis. With 4 Olympic gold medals, 9 World Championships, and 4 World Cup wins, she is considered to be one of the most successful female table tennis players in history. During the 2008 Beijing Olympics, she was often referred to by commentators as "The Yellow Beast" denoting her dominance in the sport. She uses a specially made Zhang Yining ZLC for her blade made by butterfly, and tenergy 05 for forehand and tenergy 64 for her backhand.
Zhang is a graduate from Beijing Shichahai Sports School, where Li Jiawei of Singapore studied as well.

Currently, Zhang is married and has not been present in ITTF Pro Tours since 2010. But, the world of table tennis dosen't get lighter with Zhang gone temporarily. There is a new bunch of excellent players like Liu Shiwen and Ding Ning. Zhang is not #1 currently because of her long absence in the ITTF circuit. The #1 title holder is currently Zhang's compatriot, Liu Shiwen.

2008 Summer Olympics Women's Table Tennis Singles Results

Zhang participated in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing winning gold in both Women's Singles and Women's Team Competition. Zhang successfully defended her singles Olympic gold medal, defeating compatriot Wang Nan in the finals 8-11, 13-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-3. She is also the Women's Doubles Gold Medal Holder at the 2004 Summer Olympics.

Her name ,Zhang Yining ,is on everyone's lips at present.She played table-tennis for the first time at the age of 5 and she was interested in this sport at that time.She has own 4 gold medals on Olympic Games. She is called‘golden girl'.She is a lovely as well as confident girl. She has a strong will and she let me know what real will is.When she has some trouble,she never gives up on her dreams.
