1、B。what在这里是the place that/which的浓缩，that/which作为关系代词，引导定语从句。如果选C或D，这个定语从句就没有了先行词。所以排除C和D。what we call Red Pool意思是“一个我们称作Red Pool的地方”。what在从句中作call的宾语，A项where是副词，副词是不能做宾语的，所以排除A；
2、C。当主句是一般将来时，条件状语从句要用一般现在时。这里条件状语从句是一般现在时，所以我们知道主句要填一般将来时，排除A、B。So用于肯定句，排除D。
3、B。从were可知，事情已经成为过去，排除A、C、D。
4、A。be usede to doing sth是习惯用法，意思是习惯于做某事。排除C、D。with是介词，介词后面要接名词或代词，排除B。
5、C。water是不可数名词，排除A、D。湖水难闻是水被污染的后果，强调过去的动作对现在造成的影响要用现在完成时，所以选C。
6、C。her voice had been full of life用的是过去完成时。过去完成时表示“过去的过去”，可见“by the time we___up”要用一般过去时。
7、C。signaled him to set down 示意他坐下。
let 和made是使役动词，后面要接动词原形，而set down前面有to，所以排除A、B。shouted句意不通。
8、C。somehow在一定程度上。
