If you want someone to help you ,you must help someone first .So I think you gonna to be a volunteer .what kind of volunteer do you want to be?I think you should clarify it or just speak it clearly.If you want to know to get some information about how to be one,I can offer some ideas for you.

In my point of view,to be a volunteer is a fancinating thing.But of course,it is not easy to be.Firstly,we ourselves must be brave enough and responsiable.Volunteer is a person who helps others without gaining any reward.So we shouldn't think too much about ourselves.Secondly,we can be passionate for this job.Passion is the key to behaving well as a volunteer.Thirdly,to be a voluteer means we are willing to offer help to people who need help.Then we are respectable.We must keep good relationship with them.
