【含义】

thanks for强调谢的原因，意思是“为……谢”。

thanks to意思是“多亏了……”、“由于……的帮助”。

【区别用法】

thanks to为习语介词，thanks不可以改为thank you，to后也不接动词原形，这个短语表示原因，意为“由于”、“多亏”，to表示感谢的对象。如：

Thanks to the English language，we can learn a lotfrom other countries.由于英语这门语言，我们能从其它国家学到很多东西。

thanks for是客套用语，thanks相当于thank you，意为“因……而感谢”，for强调为何而感谢，其后可接名词或v-ing。
