看来楼上十二层，竟然没有一个说出所以然来，包括有些就是完全错误的。

实际上，第一句是对的，第二句是错的。因为where译出的状语从句中，get his hands on的动词短语功能相当于及物动词，即后面要加宾语。当然，如楼上有一位说的，如果你将where改成which,由于which起到了宾语的作用，取代了it，就不能用it了，而是用which your 15-year-old son can not get his hands on.

还有一点需要纠正的，就是前面的You would better。正确说法是You had better...或You'd better...

估计你只是想要大家在你提供的两个句子间选择而已，否则有多种翻法。我推荐其中两种：
You'd better put the book beyond your 15-year-old son's reach.
You'd better put the book where your 15-year-old son cannot reach.

一条原则：越简明扼要和地道，越好。

不过我觉得如下翻译更好 out of reach就是够不着，找不到的意思

you would better put（keep） the book out of your 15-year-old son‘s reach

最后的“on”是不能少的。原因是keep是不及物动词，所以必须有一个介词。
至于第一个人最后的it可以省略，最好是不加，后面和前面又没有that从句，所以不需要。
