The Personal Qualities of a Student
Here I want to try to give you an answer to the question: What personal qualities are desirable in a student? Probably no two people would draw up exactly similar lists, but I think the following would be generally accepted.
First, the student's personality should be honest. This is the most important thing in our life. If a student lacks of it, no matter how excellently he is, he will fail in an interpersonal relationship. What's more, just a saying said, "Call a spade a spade.". We should be truthful not only in our life but also in our study and work. Otherwise, the society will be in a total mess.
Secondly, it is not merely desirable but essential for a student to have a genuine capacity for respecting others. When you're respecting others, you'll receive respect from others. Being a student, if you could make use of respect, you will achieve lots of success in your life.
Thirdly, I hold it essential for a student to be both active and brave. This does not mean being a giant. It means that he will always be youthful. This is part of the quality of character, which demands that students should be able to put on an act.
Finally, I think a student should have the kind of mind which always wants to go on learning. The more we learn, the more we get. It's also one of the peculiar qualities of a student. We should learn how to learn, how to achieve your targets by yourself.
These, I think, are the personal qualities a student should possess.

The Value of University Life
University is where we can gain knowledge and friends that both benefit our future life.
]But as far as I am concerned, the value of university life is that
I gradually master the wisdom of choice.
First of all, university provides a wide range of choices for us
and we have to learn how to judge wisely. As a university student,
we are familiar with the feeling of being overwhelmed by choices:
which selective courses to pick, which societies to join or even who to make friends with.
There is no silver bullet to solve all these puzzles once and for all.
We might need to solicit information from junior and senior students to make an informed choice.
Or sometimes, we just have to take a leap of faith and learn the lesson,
whether it is in a hard way or not.
Secondly, the choosing sharpens our analytical skill.
For example, when we decide to drop Contemporary Dramas in the West
and pick Literature Theories, we have to weigh the gains and losses of each course.
The more choices we make, the more analysis we have to perform,
and the better our analytical skill will get.
In conclusion, the value of university life is the wisdom of choice,
which makes us intelligent and discerning.
