Welcome to the world of the annual Cooper's Hill Cheese Rolling and Wake in England!
A tradition that dates back at least two centuries, the event is held every year on the last Monday in May. This year the event falls on May 25. On that day, groups of fearless racers get together to chase an 8 pound (3.5 kg) round Double Gloucester cheese down the steep and uneven Cooper's Hill, with a 1:1 gradient in some sections. They do it on purpose, for fun, for bragging rights, and, of course, to take home the cheese —which can reach speeds of up to 70 miles (112 meters) per, hour, flying down the hill. If you're the first one hill, you win it.
