The language and culture is the cross-cutting, and mutual penetration - the language as a carrier of cultural information, you can break through time and space, carrying many connotations and cultural information 〔1〕.Therefore, in the translation conversion, the translation is a language translator to the meaning implied in the text in another language to express the cultural activities, is a faithful re-creation of the original, rather than simply the words and sentence for the transfer 〔2〕 27. From this perspective, translation is a scientific, creative arts. However, the various national political systems, geographical environment, customs, religious beliefs, as well as the aspects of art and literature for cultural differences in how the process of translation handle and deal with these cultural differences, both in theory and in practice has certain practical significance. 一, mainly English and cultural differences Culture is a historical phenomenon, every society has adapted to its culture. Language is an integral part of culture is the carrier of culture. Among peoples with different languages, cultural differences must exist, such cultural differences can cause difficulties of translation. English and Chinese in the cultural connotation of the differences mainly in the following areas: 1. Religious differences in cultural background Europe and the United States many people to Christianity, that God created the world, there is nothing in the arrangements according to the will of God. "God" concept of Christ on a strong color, if we do not know the religious background, in the translation, the equivalent of blind pursuit of culture, sometimes it will cause a loss of culture. Therefore, different religious beliefs caused by cultural differences in translation can not be ignored。 Extensive and profound Chinese culture, long history. Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism are the three major religions in China, in China's traditional culture, there is Taoism's "Emperor", the Buddhist "Hades", there is the myth of the "Dragon King." Which the influence of Buddhism on Chinese culture the most, many idioms related to, and Buddhism. For example: Kuzhongzuole, five body cast to, the theories, hype, etc.. If the translators did not understand religious and cultural backgrounds, will inevitably create difficulties for translation. 2. Way of thinking and different values Anglo-American culture values the most important is personal freedom, it is a basic unit of the individual, stressing that "all men are created equal" culture. Anglo-American culture, also known as the "I culture" and "personal values first culture." In this emphasis on personal dignity, culture, power, tend to focus more on the individual. The most important traditional Chinese culture values the "good guys" and "filial piety", interpersonal attention is the relationship between self and talking to.Chinese culture is also known as "our culture" and "collectivist culture."For example, Chinese people always say, "All men are brothers", "at home by their parents, go out to rely on friends," "righteousness Zhiqian Jin", "trees are good for shade," and so on, which shows that Chinese people often put themselves and the so-called home considered as one and hope to find safety outside the self; and said in English Proverbs“God helps those that help themselves”,“ self is our centre”,“life is a battle”,These proverbs are warning people: only rely on ourselves, to succeed and a sense of security. Second, cultural differences Translation Strategy Translation is not simply two languages in the form of conversion, also includes the exchange of two cultures in mutual penetration and mutual compatibility. Mr. Liu Miqing 〔2〕 20, also said: translatability of culture identity, and by understanding the semantic system isomorphism theory and principles of human thought forms of the identity of the decision. However, the relative with the structure and language of the ambiguity of the decision of the cultural translatability is relative. To this end, the translator must take the necessary translation strategies to maximize the transmission of cultural information. 1. Literal Translation Literal translation is by the original meaning and structure of the original language words and phrases directly translated into target language words, how to maintain the original language in the form of distortion, while without their significance 〔3〕. This method can retain the original language of the national colors, letting the target language readers have access to a large number of alien culture to enrich the target language of expression.Such as: "All roads lead to Rome", "eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth", are from the translation from the English idiom and was accepted by all.In short, the literal translation faithful to the original emphasis from content to form the pursuit of maximizing the "letter", but never equal out forms to promote the translation of the first mechanical conversion. Literal can keep the original image of the vivid metaphor, clever techniques and unique national style, especially for those who only unique for a nation with a unique cultural connotation of words. 2. Paraphrase If the original literal translation can not be fully shown grace or cause the reader to understand the target language difficulties, to make use free translation. Free translation refers to no other nation in the language equivalent of the word in accordance with the method of Chinese word formation and morphological components follow. If the "hold a wolf by ears" to "riding a tiger"; to "as thick as thieves" to "intimateAnd literal compared to paraphrase a more focused sense, ignoring the details, require that the translation of natural flow. In other words, the relationship between literal and free translation is actually "Forms" and "Ideas" relationship 〔3〕. In summary, the English produced in two languages with different cultural backgrounds, carrying different cultures, and this will inevitably lead to expression of the two languages there are many differences.Properly handle the issue of cultural differences in translation, the translator should have not only comprehend the two cultures, sensing capability and the practical ability to use two languages, but also continuously improve their cultural accomplishments, and strive to have the original author with the ideal, feelings and mood.
