表语从句和定语从句的区别
表语从句紧跟在联系动词之后；而定语从句一般紧跟在先行词之后；另外，两种从句的功能也大不相同，表语从句是对主语的'描述，解释或者身份的说明；而定语从句是对先行词的修饰或者限制。
区别： 定语从句所修饰的是名词，表语从句是接在系动词后面的做表语的成分，比如形容词
例如:
That is why he was late for class that day.（表语从句）
That is the reason why he was late for class that day.（定语从句）
The reason why he was late for class that day was that there was a traffic jam on his way.（此句中why引导的是定语从句,修饰the reason;而 that是表语从句.
