The dictionary plays a very important role in learning English. It really helps me out when I come across some new words. Even for some familiar words, they still have many underlying meanings which we don't usually use. So the usage of dictionaries is not only to look for the new words, but also, and most importantly, to understand the old ones.

I use dictionaries alot in my English learning. I can still remember how poor my English was as I only know a few simple words and can not use them efficiently.Now with the help of dictionaries, things get different. My vocabulary is significantly enlarged, and I know how to use my words efficiently.

How to look up a dictionary Frist look up the meaning of an English word you see or hear .And find the English translation of a word in your language .Then check the spelling of a word .And check the plural of a noun or past tense of a verb .find out other grammatical information about a word .find the synonym or antonym of a word .After look up the collocations of a word .And check the part of speech of a word . Then find out how to say a word .find out about the register of a word.Finally find examples of the use of a word in natural language. That's a look up adictionary idea.

As is known to all,dictionary is essential tool for reference. Almost everyboby needs its help to study or work,each of us had a dictionary,no matter when we were students or started working,for it is an importance part of our life,just like the toys as a good partner during our growth. I think it is so familiar to us,we regard it as our honest friend. When we studied at school and encountered some troubles in knowledge,the dictionary is the first assistant we thought of,and then we always get useful point from it. We should appreciate it, just like our teacher,it brings valuable knowledge whenever you need help.
