is there any 或 are there any

感觉差不多？ 口语中好像没听见过are there any 全部都是is there any 用的，就是想搞清楚一下，比方说 is there any coach in this gym? or are the any coaches in this gym? 如果想提问是否有 coach在这个gym里面应该用哪一句呢？如果用前一句是不是就表明就一个coach 是否要改为 is there a coach in this gym? 感觉怪怪的

Is there any 和 are there any 两个表达都是对的，要看具体情况。用单数时，表示预期答案是单数，但是不确定是哪个，或者答案不可数。如：
Is there any truth to that rumor?
Is there any hope for our overfished oceans?
上面两句是不能改成复数的，也不能把any改成a。下面这两句可以用单数也可以用复数：
2012: is there any reason to fear the end of the world?
Is there any way to see who views my profile on Facebook?
这里把any改成a也对：
2012: is there a reason to fear the end of the world?
Is there a way to see who views my profile on Facebook?
下面的例子必须用a，不能用any：
Is there a God?
Is there a Santa Claus?
Is there a cure for cancer?
Is there a sixth sense?
Is there a company called Apple?

用复数的例子也很多：
Are there any volunteers?
Are there any rules to follow?
Are there any health risks?
Are there any questions?
