This was done earlier. After seeing memo_wong's answers, I want to explain my a little.
1. D: the principal (monitor也不对,应为monitoring)
Prediction...remains, can make都对, 只剩下D.
2. C: what they eat
3. C: more slowly than
4. A: According to a report
全句可以简化为chemical industry is doing something in a report, 不通; 可有两种说法:
a: according to a report, chemical industry is doing something.
b. Census Bureau said ... in a report
5. D: of all kinds
6. B: but also a killer
7. B: twenty-foot
8. C: others
9. D: to allow any of them
10. C: had a great effect
late eighteenth-century improvements和nventors of the sewing machine都是以前的事, have改为had
