歌曲由两位纽约布鲁克林的创作者——安吉拉·亨特和珍妮·塞维尔出于对家乡的思念之情而创作。2009年2月，两人在一次海外旅途中分享了她们的思乡情感，并简单写下了这首歌曲以表对家乡的渴望。一个月后，她们将歌曲秘密送到了Roc Nation唱片公司，希望Jay Z能够采纳这首歌曲，但却受到了负面的评价。
