Hello! Welcome to China. Probally, most of you have known something about our country. But still I "ll make further introduction about her. As you know China has a history of five thousand years. So comes out it a lot of hitoric relics. Beijin used to be the capital of Ming and Qing Dynasty. The imperial place is called "Forbbiton City " It is also the largest Palace in the world. It covers an area of ......square meters. The much older is the Great Wall built about two thousand years ago. It was used to protect from the invaders from north nationnalities. Now let me say a few words about Shanghai , the largest city of China . Shanghai has the population of thirteen million. Her morden buildings attract interest of foriegn visitors. The Oriental Pearl Tower is 450 meters high, the highest building in China. Opposite to the Tower is the Bund, Along the Bund, there are different kinds of western style buildings which were built before the founding of People's Republic of China. Allow me to introduce you Fuzhi Temple in Nanjing ,capital city of Jiangsu Province. Nanjing is also one of the oldest cities in China. It is famous for Fuzhi Temple. There is a river called Qingwai River beside the temple. Near the Temple there is a street selling snaks. There you can enjoy hundreds of snaks with typical local flavours. Let me just start by saying that I had been put off reading Thomas Hardye by Dickens. Having really struggled with Dickens and resorted to audio I had wrongly assumed that all 19C liturature was the same. How wrong I could be. From the first paragraph where the opening character farmer Gabriel Oak is desribed smiling, ‘the corners of his mouth spread till they were an unimportant distance from his ears‘ I fell in love with Hardy‘s narrative. His ability to use words that lift the description off the page and into the reader‘s imagination are not just outstanding but incredibly enjoyable.
I went into this book blindly, knowing little about the plot that lay ahead or even the genre. It has been described by some as romantic fiction. But I think this is too simplistic a title and and maybe slightly off-putting to some. Hardye steps into Greek Tragedy when the unwitting and churlish actions of our young protagonist, Bathsheba Everdene, result in a love tryst between three suitors with tragic consequenses.

The book is essentially a journey for Bathsheba into womanhood not unlike the journey that Scarlett O‘Hara makes in Gone with the Wind who also has to overcome great tragedy in order to realise her own strength. Unlike this heroin, however, Bathsheba is more the instrument of chaos and indecion and part of her journey is that she accepts what she has caused and tries to make.
Hardye avoids making this into moral stricture but deviates from the Greek Tragedy model by giving us a happy ending not atypical of 19C serialised fiction.

Quite often an author‘s voice creeps into their writing and the reader becomes aware that they are not in fact walking the hills and dales of fictional Wessex but are at the pen nib of a writ

西湖:
These are the words composed by the famous Song Dynasty poet Su Dongpo (960-1127) when he compared the West Lake to Xi Zi, the most beautiful woman in ancient China. These poetic sentiments leave one in no doubt of the glory of the scenery that inspired them.

Originally a shallow sea inlet, due to the laying down of silt this 5.68 square kilometers (about 1,404 acres) of water became the famous West Lake. With an average depth of just five feet the lake comprises five distinct sections. The largest part is known as the Outer Lake and it is bounded by the North Inner Lake, Yuehu Lake, West Inner Lake and Lesser South Lake. Held in the embrace of hilly peaks on three sides, this water wonderland has been an attraction for centuries and it is small wonder that it was a favourite imperial retreat. The lake and its environs have all the elements of a traditional Chinese garden but on a grand scale. The natural setting of strangely shaped peaks, serene forests and springs, dense foliage and a myriad of blossoms especially in springtime are enhanced by a treasury of sculpture and architectural features. Whatever the season, the panorama is pleasing to the eye and the nuances of light shade together with the moods of the weather present an ever-changing picture that justifiably has been described as 'intoxicating'.
