impose (a certain impression) on the public,强行把某种印象加于公众,刻意制造出某种印象。
2.下面句子中的much 后面的of 有什么用啊?leave any to itself 是什么意思?
There is so much of gratitude or vanity 〔in almost every attachment〕(介宾结构作定语 )
that it is not safe to leave 〔any〕 (指代gratitude or vanity) to 〔itself〕 (仍指代gratitude or vanity).
Bingley was endeared to Darcy by the easiness, openness, though no disposotion(个性、性情) could offer a greater contrast to his own,and though with his own he never appeared dissatisfied.
Bingley was endeared to Darcy by the easiness, openness,后面跟了两个though引导的从句。
though no disposotion could offer a greater contrast to his own,其中有一个no sth offers a greater contract to sth. Nobody is slower than me. No book is more interesting than the one I'm readin.
4.they were in fact very fine ladies;not deficient in good humar(好脾气、好情绪) when they were pleased, nor (这里省略了deficient)in the power of being agreeable where they chose it.
not deficient in...
