为什么用had brought和 by，需要有详细的解释。

had brought－－表示过去完成时，指截止到found这个动作发生之前已经完成了bring这个动作。

by between 2 and 10 percent－－升高、降低等的百分数后面通常用by引导。

首先，我想问一个问题，between真的不需要删掉吗？
由于those代表的那些人做的事情是在科学家发现之前，found是过去时，那么过去的过去则用过去完成时，had brought 就是过去完成时，所以要用had brought。
by 可以翻译为比之前增长了多少，把between去掉应该能翻译得通些。
第一个回答我是有把握的，但第二个问题我不是很确定。
