How to use a puter?
It's more and more popular and nessesory to use puters in our daily life. For example, I use puter all the time in the office, and also use it for entertainment at home. Here I have some experiences and tips on how to make use of a puter in your daily life.
First, you should know what you need or want to do by using a puter. For example, I need search some information on inter, then I have to learn how to use IE (or firefox, etc.) to find out what I need . Second, Ineed to learn how to use some sofares so as to make things done easily (like using Microsoft Office), or to have fun (like play games or listen to the music). Finally, you must realize that puter is not everything, you are the boss to choose wheather you need to use it or not, and then you can arrange your time and your own way to use a puter properly.
Whether using a puter is useful or not, that depends on how you use it. Remember that the puter is just a tool to help you. That is all my advice on how to use puter in your daily life.

Computer: Blessing or Curse?
Looking back on the past 20th century, we human beings have every reason to take pride in all those great achievements. We have conquered many diseases, launched satellites, invented mobile phones... However, the advent of puter, together with the inter, is considered the most significant and has caused a thorough revolution in people's lives.
When the first puter came into being in 1946, it was proclaimed the beginning of a new era in human history. The marvelous invention coupled with Inter plays a vital role in today's society.
Nowadays, busines *** en depend substantially on puters. In the database of the banks, the information of thousands of millions of aounts is stored aurately. The B2B system of the Ford Car Company controlled pletely by puters, makes it possible for the whole pany to coordinate efficiently, thus it keeps the costs to the lowest level. Stock transactions involving large sums of money can be pleted safely through inter. We can hardly imagine a business operating without puters.
When it es to our daily life, puters also demonstrate their advantages. "distance learning" is being increasingly popular, by which teachers and students interact online while sitting before the PC at home. And there's even possibility that it will take the place of the old way of teaching someday in the future.
Besides, we can have easy aess to the flowing information when necessary by clicking the mouse only. In the past, bowerer, we have to search for hours in libraries. PC games provide extra fun for our relaxation. Emails facilitate munication beeen friends separated by long distance.
While everyone says the 21st century is an information age,we should also take notice of its negative side. Not all the changes brought to us are positive.
I can still clearly remember the problem before the millenium that caused global panic. It gave out the warning that people had relied too much on puters. Once the system is ruined, it may give rise to collapse of the whole society. Moreover, hackers attempt to destroy certain systems or make profits by stealing critical data; virus of different kinds are continually produced and spread on the . All these threaten our society. As to individuals, spending much time on puter keeps one from munication with other people. Students addicted to PC games are distracted from learning.
In sum, it's no easy thing to define exactly whether the advent of puter is a blessing or a curse. As far as I'm concerned, despite the negative effects it brings about, the puter has improved our life and benefited us on the whole. It's a great invention of the 20th century.

儿童用电脑的利弊(英语)
Advantages and Disadvantages of the Inter
Ten years ago, the Inter was practically unheard of by most people. Today, the Inter is one of the most powerful tools throughout the world. The Inter is a collection of various services and resources. Aording to Russ Brock, a director and consultant at the Center for Innovation and Inquiry, the Inter’s main ponents are E-mail and the World Wide Web (Cohen n.p.). “There’s a lot more to the Inter than E-mail, search engines, celerity web sites, up-to-the-second sports scores, and chat rooms full of risqué discussions. The Net also ranks as one of today’s best business tools - if it’s used adroitly” (Eckhouse 184). Almost all households contain the Inter; however, before people connect to the Inter, they need to be aware of its disadvantages and advantages.
Many fear the Inter because of its disadvantages. They claim to not use the Inter because they are afraid of the possible consequences or are simply not interested. People who have yet connected to the Inter claim they are not missing anything (Thomas, “Not Everyone’s” D3). Today’s technological society must realize, it is up to them to protect themselves on the Inter (Aspinwall n.p.). “Half of U.S. *** s, or 94 million Americans, aren’t online” (Thomas, “Not Everyone’s” D3).
Children using the Inter has bee a big concern. Most parents do not realize the dangers involved when their children log onto the Inter (“Children and the Inter” n.p.). When children are online, they can easily be lured into something dangerous. When children talk to others online, they do not realize they could actually be talking to a harmful person (Clayton n.p.). As a result, there have been many cases where children have been convinced to meet people they have talked with online. In fact, “stories seem to e out every week: a child or teenager lured into something foolish, dangerous, or even deadly on line” (Weise D4). Cathy Cleaver of the Family Research Council claims that it is against the law for a molester to even attempt to find children online (qtd. in Weise D4). In addition, children may also receive *** ography online by mistake; therefore, causing concern among parents everywhere. Whether surfing the Web, reading newsgroups, or using email, children can be exposed to extremely inappropriate material. Pornographic sites tend to make sure they are the first sites to be listed in any search area; thus, children e across such sites easily. A man from Pearl, Mississippi was arrested in 1996 for downloading *** ographic images of children from the Inter. He was charged with 290 counts of child *** ography (Pettus F1). Some critics say that parents are responsible for their own children on the Inter because there are available services to protect children. To keep children safe, parents and teachers must be aware of the dangers. They must actively guide and guard their children online. Parents should talk to their children about what is online and what might happen online, claims Howard Rheingold, writer of The Virtual Community (qtd. in Weise D4). There are a number of tools available today that may help keep the Inter environment safer for children. Some panies, such as America Online, try to monitor everything that is said and done on their online service; however, because thousands of chat rooms are available, it is simply impossible for everything to be monitored, claims Tricia Primrose, worker for America Online (Weise D4). In other words, children want to explore things; however, there are people on the Inter that are just too persuasive (Pettus F1).
Musicians are also concerned with disadvantages to the Net such as, aessibility and freedom. They are upset because the Inter provides their music online at no charge to consumers. File-sharing services, such as Napster, provides copyrighted songs to all Inter users. The main concern is - the music is free! Musicians feel “they are not getting paid for their work” (Murdoch n.p.). Because of Napster, it is almost impossible to close down all file-sharing services; there are too many of them to count (Murdoch n.p.). Legal cases have developed across the country with copyright owners declaring that their music is being plagiarized by people on the Inter (“Big Music Fights Back” n.p.).
Another major disadvantage of the Inter is privacy. Electronic messages sent over the Inter can be easily snooped and tracked, revealing who is talking to whom and what they are talking about. As people surf the Inter, they are constantly giving information to web sites (Aspinwall n.p.). People should bee aware that the collection, selling, or sharing of the information they provide online increases the chances that their information will fall into the wrong hands. Consequently, they will bee a victim of identity theft, one of the worst privacy violations with potentially devastating financial consequences (Aspinwall n.p.). When giving personal information on the Inter, people should make sure the Web site is protected with a recognizable security symbol. On the other hand, this does not mean they are fully protected because anyone may obtain a user’s information (Aspinwall n.p.). In other words, “the most mon Inter crimes are frauds and con games” (Covington n.p.). .
Today, not only are humans getting viruses, but puters are also. Computers are mainly getting these viruses from the Inter; yet, viruses may also be tran *** itted through floppy disks. However, people should mainly be concerned about receiving viruses from the Inter. Some of these dangerous viruses destroy the puter’s entire hard drive, meaning that the user can no longer aess the puter. Virus protection is highly remended (Aspinwall n.p.).
Despite all of the terrible disadvantages of the Inter, there are numerous advantages. In fact, the advantages out weigh the disadvantages. Alcestis Oberg uses elderly people as an example of those who benefit the most from the Inter; a great deal of elders are shut in their homes due to health problems. She also claims the Inter “became one more social avenue in our lives” (A15).
The most mon thing the Inter is used for is research. Children and students are among the people who use the Inter for research. Today, it is almost required that students use the Inter for research. Thirty percent of teachers give assignments requiring research from the Inter. In the classroom, sixty-six percent of teachers use the Inter to teach (Thomas, “High Technology” D1). The Inter has bee one of the biggest sources for research. Almost everyday, research on medical issues bees easier to locate. Web sites have bee available for people to research diseases and talk to doctors online at sites such as, America’s Doctor. During 1998 over 20 million people reported going online to retrieve health information (Davis A1).
Entertainment is another popular reason why many people surf the Inter. Downloading games, going into chat rooms, or just surfing the Web are some of the uses people have discovered. There are numerous games that may be downloaded from the Inter at no charge (Regan n.p.). Chat rooms are popular because users can meet new and interesting people. In fact, the Inter has been used by people to find life long partners (Belsie n.p.). When people surf the Web, there are numerous things that can be found. Music, hobbies, news and more can be found on the Inter.
Another popular thing to do on the Inter is to check out the news. Almost all local news can be obtained through the Inter. Up to date sports scores are probably the most popular looked at news. Sports scores are updated on the Inter as soon as the game ends. (Rainie n.p.). Weather is also a popular source to look up on the Inter. Using the Inter to get the weather allows people to view weather all over the world. Live radar all over the country and local forecasts are just to name a few of the things that may be obtained for weather information on the Inter.
Shopping online has also bee a huge suess and is considered a great advantage of the Inter. No matter what people are shopping for, it can be found on the Inter. People do not even have to leave their homes. A few panies have collected millions of dollars using the Inter for selling (Eckhouse 184). Clothing is probably one of the most bought items online. Almost every major clothing store has its on Web site. People can even go grocery shopping online using such sites as Priceline.. Just one click of the mouse on the items they want to purchase and the items are delivered to their front door (“Groceries Online” n.p.). Groceries and clothing are only a few of the items that may be bought on the Inter.
In conclusion, today’s society is in the middle of a technological boom. People can either choose to take advantage of this era, or simply let it pass them by. The Inter is a very powerful tool. It has many advantages; however, people need to be extremely aware of the disadvantages as well.
