They also lacked awareness of SPC as a powerful problem solving technique. On top of that, lack of training and education in SPC also contribute as one of the major issue for the SPC implementation. The purpose of training and education in SPC is to encourage the workers to understand, manage and reduce variation due to implementation causes and to support continuous improvement. Training and education can enhance the level of knowledge and understanding of workers regarding when, where, and how to apply the tools and techniques of SPC. The primary findings from this paper will be used as the basis for the guideline of the further research in developing online SPC in manufacturing industry, which will be the subject of future paper.
