上面这句话明显不通！ 楼主：写错了important 关系不大，一般的人都会自动纠正，但你这个 has been后面少了个表语rapid 就太不应该了。
不知道其他人是怎么“自动”将这个表语补上去的，我是搜索了之后才确定的。
加上了这个rapid，题意就变得很清楚了，in which =in the science of medicine,
定语从句还原就是：Progress in the science of medicine has been rapid very lately.
