答案填which。为什么不能用that?介词in不是be different in里的吗？现在反倒觉得填in which 更合适一点啊。

用in which肯定不对。
这句话拆开就是以下两句：
People and animals are different in their reactions to drugs.
People and animals are different in the way.
different in 后面接的宾语是their reactions to drug 和way.
可见这个 different in 跟后面的定语从句完全没有关系。

只是the way时就可以用in which,如
the way (in which)the words are used is very important.

定于从句是在这一句中：
in the way ____ their bodies work.
这里我觉得是that吧。或者不填。
但是为什么答案是which我就不知道啦。

c) 先行词前面有only,any,few,little,no,all,one of,the same,the very等词修饰时

d) 当先行词被序数词修饰
The first place that they visited in London was the Big Ben.
当先行词被形容词最高级修饰时
This is the best film that I have seen.
当形容词被the very, the only修饰时
This is the very dictionary that I want to buy,
After the fire in his house, the old car is the only thing that he owned.

e) 先行词既有人，又有物时。
He talked about the teachers and schools that he visited .
The bike and its rider that had run over (撞倒了)an old man were taken to the police station.

f) 主句中已有疑问词时
Which is the bike that you lost?

g) 有两个定语从句,其中一个关系代词已用which,另外一个宜用that
Edison built up a factory(办了一个工厂) which produced things that had never been seen before.
