信用风险是指对方当事人在借贷期满之时或之后无法全额偿付的行为所带来的风险，通常信用风险都是由于对方当事人破产造成的。

本金风险是指在投资证券或基金时账面值减少的风险，通常这种风险是由无责对方当事人向有责对方当事人所传递造成的。（解释：后半句话的意思是，如果你买入了某个基金公司的基金，而基金公司又把钱投资于某家公司的股票，这时基金公司就是你的直接对方当事人，对你负责，而那家公司就是间接对方当事人，跟你没有关系。如果那家公司经营亏损，基金的价值因此出现损失，而你投资于基金的本金也可能减少，这就是本金损失）
