Although the living environment may not seem comfortable to most people in west China, it's very possible that you may easily get a very good opportunity there to make good use of your knowledge. Moreover, I believe, with great support by the government, economy in west China will grow rapidly in the coming decade and the working and living conditions will be improved significantly at that time.
Therefore, rather than getting frustrated by the severe competition in seeking a job in east China, it is a wise choice to make a history in west China. You won't regret it.

Someone hold their points that people should find a job in west area cause it is not a so developed region. There is a big demand of person with ability to help develop local economy. It is easier to find a job there. Plus working enviornment there is better than east.
While others argue that east china is the idea working place. There are lots of good jobs with high salary. Economoy situation there is much better than west. You can enjoy life there.
From my point of view, east china will be my working place cause there are more chances there. We can learn lots of skills there for self-improvement. They have better living condition and other basic facilities.
