People usually call the cheongsam “qipao” in most parts of China. It came into history in the Qing dynasty and began to become popular in the 1920s. Now more and more people like it. ( It’s my honor to introduce) our Chinese Cheongsam in the fashion festival. Cheongsam was first worn by Manchu women. At the beginning of the Republic of China Chinese women all like to wear it, for it was a traditional style. No woman has worn Cheongsam since the PRC was founded, for it was not convenient for people to work. Cheongsam was considered as the clothing for rich ladies . However, in the reform and opening up, people felt wearing Cheongsam could make women more charming and beautiful. Now Cheongsam is becoming more and more popular, even many foreign ladies are fond of wearing it.
