Japan earthquake and tsunami
I heard on the news that the earthquake hit on March the 11th 2:46 JST, there was an earthquake three days before that lasted a minute so people wasn't actually that scared. Unfortunately, this one was a 8.8 highly dangerous earthquake which kept going for minutes. This was the most powerful earthquake ever in Japanese history and the fifth-largest in the world since 1900. It shook apart tons of homes and buildings and cracked open endless highways. After all these was done there suddenly came a 23-foot high tsunami. The violent wall of water swept away houses, cars, and ships and started a big fire. Soon, the fire burned out of control forcing thousands of people to flee. A boat was even caught in a whirlpool at sea. The amount of death rose steadily throughout the day, well no one could leave because most airports and roads were either blocked by debris or washed by the water. This disaster did not only affect the adults but also the kids at school, at one school a large white "SOS" had been spelled in english asking for help. Of course, the world did not just leave them to be. The U.S. people send assist ships and planes to help. This alerted the entire Pacific including the coastal areas of South America, Canada and Alaska, but waves were not as bad as expected. There is 1100 people (japanese) either died or unfound right now.
