make fun of 取笑 being made fun of 被动语态，正在被人取笑
it's a shame 习惯用语，指某件事或某个行为是一件令人遗憾或鄙视的事
B. the ... the ... 后面各自跟着比较级形容词，意思是 越... 越...
finding ... 整句话以 finding 动名词带领宾语 陈述困难点
B. as carefully as, 副词修饰动词 does
不知道确实数字，用 some millions of 表达 " 数以百万计" 的意思
看来不错，闻起来也好，都是惯用搭配。smells good 也行。looks 就只能用 good 形容物品

应该是be made fun of 不是吗为什么要+ing? as carefully as 应该是as careful as 不是吗中间跟原级

be made fun of 只是被动语态的体现方式，其中 be 的时态要根据句中前后文的语义来决定。
这里用 was being made fun of 叙述的是当时“正在进行中”的情景，如果Mary 后跟着的是 realizes 三单现在时，那也就要改为 is being made fun of 了。

动词需要靠副词修饰
He drives carefully. He ran quickly. ... 都是这样的例子。
do/does/did 也一样是动词，用不用 as ... as 去进行比较不会改变语法上的基本规则。
