However, it is not really a church holiday, it is a holiday for children mainly.Every autumn, when the vegetables are ready to eat, children pick large orange pumpkins. Then they cut faces in the pumpkins and put a burning candle inside. It looks as if there were a person looking out of the pumpkin! These lights are called jack-o'-lanterns, which means "Jack of the lantern".The children also put on strange masks and frightening costumes every Halloween. Recently, something heroic happened around us. The leading figure of the story is XX who is a student studying in No.2 Senior High Middle School.
On August 2nd, when XX was on his way to a bookstore, he heard someone calling for help all of a sudden as he walked along the river bank. He looked around and found a little boy struggling in the water. He then jumped into the river all at once. And successfully rescued the boy. He sent the boy back home and refused the money offered by the boy's parents.
Saving life is a holy behavior. We all should learn from XX. I believe with all our efforts, the society will be more and more harmonious.
