I needed to come up with a plan I hoped for a surprise attack on Black Bart, but not knowing if he was following or already there cause me concern. On an out and out fight I had the better chance of winning, my ship had more guns and men then his, but if he was waiting there and caught me off guard then the advantage goes to him.

The Island was call Sandhog uninhabited the waters on the back side of the island were only 2 fathoms deep, this would not allowed Black Bart to hide there for fear of a grounding of his ship. But since the Sea Dragon only needed less than a fathom of water we could sail that side of the island, with no fear.
