As the registered vehicles are increasing rapidly in China, there have been also higher demands for driving performance and safety of cars, making the task heavier in testing the comprehensive performance. Currently, automobile chassis dynamometer and braking bench are available in almost all the check stations in our country. The former is used to test the output power of automobile chassis in order to asses the dynamic property, while the latter is used to test vehicle's brake performance that signals the safety of a car. However, the two equipments, though with similar structures and working theories, must be assembled and work independently, severely affecting the testing efficiency. Thus, this article laid out the design of new kind of multi-functional testing station for vehicles, on basis of the similarities of structures and testing theories. This new testing station can help us to test both the output power of automobile chassis and the brake performance of vehicles. Beyond that, some new tachogenerators have been added on it to adjust vehicle's speed. So different tests are conducted independently without interfering each other. With accurate calculation and smart design, the new testing station can work stably for a long time. By doing this, it can not only save costs and space for stations, but also reduce the testing time that improves working efficiency.
