通过比较中西文化的差异,本文得出中西差异本质上是文化差异,而翻译与文化有着血肉联系,翻译之难就在于跨越文化的障碍。
美国外语教学专家Winston Brembreck说，“采用只教语言不教文化的教学方法,只能培养出语言流利的大傻瓜。”因此,不但要学语言,还要学语言文化,包括交际模式、习俗、价值观、思维方式及处世态度,才能真正掌握交际工具———语言,并使语言成为真正的交际工具。翻译也是如此,译者不能刻意追求词句的等值,拘泥于字面意义,要力求把字里行间的深层涵义与文化的真正涵义传达出来。

It's very easy to find out the influences of different cultures everywhere, especially when we are talking about the translation. The differences of cultures could be leading a translation into an inaccurated result.

Comparing the western and the Chinese cultures, the conclusion is, the nature of the cultures are different in the quality, and culture is playing a great role in translation activity, it could be the different background of culture our greatest obstacle to surpass.

Said Winston Brembreck - The American expert of foreign languages, "Using the way of teaching in languages without teaching the cultural understanding, can only generate stupids that speak fluent foreign languages." Therefore, language is the only thing we have to study about, we have to learn about the way of communicate, the tradition, the moral value,the way of thinking and conducting as well. So that we can truly handle the language, as a tool of communication.

The same theory works in translation as well, translator should not put too much of efforts in looking for the equality of words or phrases in a sentence, it's translator's job to deliver the message and the true meaning of the sentence, rather than the definitions of phrases and words.
