译：这个问题如果不解决，将导致更多严重的问题。
析：if left unsolved= if it is left unsolved ,从句是leave sth. unsolved 的被动语态。意思是听之任之，不去解决它。状语从句的主语如果与主句主语相同，从句谓语中有be动词，可以省略主语加be.
而remain为系动词，它可以跟形容词作表语：如：the problem remained unsolved.
也可以作不及物动词，其现在分词作前置定语：the remaining 20 dollars.
if remained unsolved,如果成立，则=If it is remained unsovled,则是错误的。
如改为：if it remains unsolved,也可以。

答：因为被动、疑问、定语从句等原因，会引起句子的倒装，而使句子的结构混乱，理解困难。只要将它们还原成正常的句子，理解，选择会变得容易得多。
些题是一般将来时，程度状语又提到了句首，我们试着还原成一个陈述句：
Future scientific discoveries will make possible the prolonging of human life to what extent?
译：未来的科学发现会使人类寿命的延长到何种程度呢？
make这里是一个复宾动词。宾补是形容词possible:　make sth. possible, 使。。。成为可能。
